California NCLEX Application now requires SSN
As announced on their site, California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) will no longer accept NCLEX applications that do not contain a U.S. Social Security Number.
The Nursing Practice Act provides for a unified examination and licensing 
application. Once an applicant passes the examination, a license is automatically issued. Under these circumstances the BRN cannot accept applications for the examination and licensure without a U.S. social security number. For those applicants who have failed the exam and want to re-apply; CABON will not accept re-application without U.S Social Security Number.
If you are already eligible before this memo was issued, THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Hi. I got my eligibility in CA this august but I applied January of this year. I understand that CA will not issue a license anymore without a SSN. Regarding #2
1. Process CES report sa CGFNS. I have a post on how to do it, check it out.
2. Request the Candidate Report from Cali (copy of test result, $10).
3. When you’re done with 1 and 2, apply to Vermont using the NCLEX pass endorsement application for International nurses. $150
How do I request for it? Is there a form or just write a letter?
Since I have been looking at your website, I’ am about to apply for NCLEX in Vermont, I already have my CES report. Would it be better to take my NCLEX which is for CA and do #2 then apply for Vermont, or apply for Vermont and wait for my eligibility?

If you want to request Copy of Test Result (Candidate Report), make a simple letter of request to California BRN with the payment of $10 payable to Board of Registered Nursing. Just put To whom it may concern as addressee.

You dont have license edita. Only your application files will be destroyed but not your NCLEX. The only way you can get ssn is if you’re US citizen or legal alien with immigration status.

Hi! I really don’t know if this is the right thread and I don’t know where to begin anymore. I just wanted to ask some questions and opinions, perhaps you guys and sir noy would have a clear mind about things.
I passed my NCLEX (CALI) back in 2008 but due to many issues in retrogression, I do not have aN SSN yet. I tried the extension but they no longer allow it so Im kinda stuck. I wrote Ms. Lisa Chan a letter and she told me that I had several options like having it A. endorsed OR having the license epxire on me and just reapply when an SSN is available (no retest needed).
What do you guys think is better?
If endorsement to Vermont is better, do you guys know
1.how long does the endorsement take? My pass letter will expire MAY 2011
2. The whole CES confuses me too, Ive got a valid visascreen and Im not sure if I request a CES if Id have to request and send documents again for the CES or if it will based on my VISA screen.

I read the same announcement but they said Federal Employer Identification number is still accepted, which is the ITIN. So if you apply with ITIN it should still go through.

It depends on what you instructed to them. It works both ways, but if you go by instructions, Vermont said you should attach copy of test result to your application.

i need help..i have same situation as the rest of the guys here i took my exam nclex back on 2006 did not pass then want to re-take it again but the nursing board in calif send me yesterday reply saying wont allow me to take exam if i dont have social security. so i dont know what step should i do.. yes there’s state of vermont would i do same long proccess where like initial steps in applying to take exam..could you lead me pls. on what should i do now.. I’m bit gutted..was thinking to take in state of new mexico but do they need social security as well…just dont know what to do need advise pls..thanks more power to you!

i just passed nclex and i want to endorse nalang the result to other state like minessota. now, as i processed online application for CES, i put minessota as recipient but there’s a prompt saying like this:
ERROR: Some of your recipients are not appropriate for a Credential Evaluation Service report. You may remove recipients with the link below.
Must Remove MINNESOTA BOARD OF NURSING–ERROR: The Minnesota Board of Nursing does not require a CES Report for licensure of Registered Nurses by endorsement.

If you have SSN you can have it in California, just explain to them that you dont intend to practice nursing in phils thats you didnt take the nle; they will require you added docs from school. Or you can have it Saipan. or NY with CVS.

Hi sir NOY! Im planning to have my NCLEX Passed Result be transferred to TEXAS. Is it true that they don’t require a CES even to those who haven’t issued a license due to SSN? Im also confuse with their verification forms if I have to bring a copy to PRC and to send that to my original BON where I took the exam. They’re also asking me a letter from the BON which states that I truly passed. I asked them if I’ll have to send the NCLEX CANDIDATE REPORT (since I have the copy) but they told me no. arkansas ang original BON ko sir.. kaso sir when I e-mailed AR BON about the letter and the verification form that the texas BON is asking they replied telling me this: ” “The only “letter” that we send is that which you have already received.” (the letter I received was the letter indicating that I passed and the nclex-rn candidate form. kindly help me sir what to do. hi, im really confused right now about my situation.im trying to apply for NCLEX here in California. I am an RN from the Philippines since 2008 but no working experience there.I am currently staying in California with my relatives and I am getting married in a few days to a US citizen so I guess SS# would not be a big problem for me.My questions are:
1.) Is it ok if on the application form,I will just write my original name or the name that I have on my Philippine license or before I get married and not use the family name of my husband?
2.) All my requirements are here with me now including my school requirement (TOR, course description,diploma, nursing program verification,etc.) It has all been verified,authenticated and sealed by my school and I have an official mailing envelope with my school’s address in the Philippines.My problem is how am I gonna send these school requirements to the Cali BON?Like u said the school should be the one to mail it to them, but in my situation, what can I do?pls help me
3.) This might be farfetched already but do u think if i get married here in california, is it ok to keep my original family name rather than my husband’s family name, just for identifcation purposes and application forms such as this?
4.)Should my application form and school requirements be mailed separately? what is the exact address of where I should mail it?Is there an assurance that both requirements will be attached to each other once it reaches them if mailed separately?
5.) Does the CA state board of nursng require CES like vermont and other tes?

first of all, you cant apply without SSN, so secure it first. You can use your married name. and attach marriage cert with your application

Get an ATT before it expires, and then check the ATT validity. They will allow you to take NCLEX without SSN but they wont issue your license.

My NCLEX is about to be expired this Jan 2011. I’m not doing anything since I have a a copy of the test results which is ok according to what I understand. Do you think it will not cause me any trouble if I get hired in case US opens? I will work in FLorida. I decided not to endorse because I will pay again for all the necessities and then when US opens I will endorse to FL. Do you think this is right? Because, US, is causing us a lot of money, letting us wait for what? I don’t know. It’s like a gamble.

Yeah, it’s a gamble. If there’s a way for you to get SSN later then it’s better not to endorse. Florida also requires SSN.
