California NCLEX Application now requires SSN
As announced on their site, California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) will no longer accept NCLEX applications that do not contain a U.S. Social Security Number.
The Nursing Practice Act provides for a unified examination and licensing 
application. Once an applicant passes the examination, a license is automatically issued. Under these circumstances the BRN cannot accept applications for the examination and licensure without a U.S. social security number. For those applicants who have failed the exam and want to re-apply; CABON will not accept re-application without U.S Social Security Number.
If you are already eligible before this memo was issued, THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.

go to rn.ca.gov for the application form. fill it up, and send the Request for Transcript form to your school. pag nareceive mo na yung TOR, keep it with your application.. If you’re planning to take the NCLEX in California, you can wait til you arrive in CA para sa Live scan finger print.. here are the forms you will send to Sacramento: Application form & fee (kasama yung Request for Transcript and TOR, copy of your license and diploma and the a copy of your live-scan fingerprint form.. wait around 2 weeks for your Eligibility Notice after they verify your application..

i-renew mo yung license mo, requirement kasi yun pag hindi US citizen.. and also your diploma from your school.. pareho nila nirerequire yung dalawa.. and yung SSN, requirement din sa California BRN.. try to search for another state na lang..

oh you said you have an immigrant visa pala? if that’s the case, apply ka na ng SSN before you send your application to the Cali BRN..
about dun sa requirements pala na TOR.. dapat directly from the school yun(according to CA BRN.. you should ask the school registrar kung nagme-mail sila.. in my school kasi, binigay nila sakin yung TOR and yung request for Trascript form sa envelope with the school’s address as the returning address para ako magme-mail sa Sacramento..

sometimes, they accept certificate of graduation din pero siguraduhin mo na kaya photocopy ng diploma ang ipadala mo..
yung TOR dapat sa pilipinas manggagaling.. di pwedeng “ikaw” ang magpapadala, kasi it should be mailed “directly” from the school..

Sir, ask ko po if Florida BRN will process applications for NCLEX even if i dont have a SSN or same lang sila ng ruling ng California BRN tungkol sa walang SSN, walang processing?

One more question, i send my docs to Saipan (because that time, I wasnt sure yet if my US SSN is legit.) They replied on my application saying that my mode of payment is incorrect. Since I confirmed that my SSN is legit, im gonna take NCLEX Cali instead. Is there any way that I could get my documents from them? Thanks a lot!

hi,,ask ko lang if pano ko fofollow up ung application ko sa Board of nursing d2 sa california..pinass ko last jan 7 2011 ung application ko pero until now wala pa ko narereceive na reply letter.. ung friend ko nung last week of january lang nya ipinass ung application nya pero nareceive na nya ung att nya.. nareceive na kaya nila yung akin or what??

Hello, I have a similar question to post #3, though there was no reply posted. I have a friend who passed the CA NCLEX last year, but they are now asking for a US SSN before they issue the permanent USRN license. What are her options at this point? Should she apply for reciprocity/endorsement to other state boards that do not require SSN (I do not know if any exists, if you do, would appreciate the info as well). Lastly, have you heard of the CA-NCLEX transfer Fastrack? An agency in the phils is claiming to facilitate the transfer of NCLEX to a valid US nurse license. Would you happen to know more details about this? Salamat po ng marami!

I’ve answered this here multiple times already. According to cali, you have 2 options: let it expire and then repply if you have ssn(but no need for nclex retake) or endorse it to other states like vermont, NY, texas.

so sir, gs2 ko lang i make sure.. may mga states na nagpapa exam ng nclex without ssn diba? pero they wont release your license until may ssn na right? (as you said sa post above na ganun sa florida).

thanks sa reply sir.. nga pala, nag inquire ako sa arizona. di sila require ng SS to sit for the exam and to release license. dito siguro maganda magpunta ang mga kababayan natin na na stuck sa california. katabing state lang kc kaya accesible.
evaluated tor lang pwde na, plus registration sa pearson vue, plus ielts, plus I-94 para sa mga tourist visa. yun lang sir. and the rest ciempre application form na.
will be submitting my application tomorrow.

They’re scrutinizing very closely all PH RNs.
They said that there have been a lot of fraudulent PH programs. This puts a black mark on all PH nursing programs. The SSN requirement effectively blocks and eliminates all chances for pinoy RNs to apply for California nclex and immigration. Too bad.

sir i wouldlike to ask, kumuha po ko ng NCLEX di ako naka alis then there’s a retrogression so di ako naka alis kaya di ako nabigyan ng social security number.i dont plan anymore of going to the US but it so happened na nakapag asawa ako ng US citizen..now i just arrived here last march 2012 and im planning to pursue my nursing career, how how can i get y license? do i have to retake the test again or should i only pay the delinquent fee and plus the continuing education?also im using my married name now,will i just file a name change?please enlighten me on what to do.thank you
