How to apply for NCLEX at Vermont
Update July 1, 2009: Vermont now requires nursing credential evaluation thru CES or IERF. Check my post on this new requirement. Disregard this.
Here’s a quick step by step process on how to apply for licensure by examination (NCLEX) at Vermont Board of Nursing for graduates of international nursing schools, including the Philippines.
1. Visit www.vtprofessionals.org and download the 13-page International Nurse Application for Registered Nurses. The first 4 pages are the instructions on how to fill up the form.
2. Fill up pages 5-10 (page numbered 1-6) to the best of your knowledge. Paste your 2×2 picture on the space provided in page 5. Page 10 is the Secondary Education page, where you will attach your original or certified true copy of high school diploma/certificate. You will also include in this packet your photocopy of license (front and back in one page) certified by PRC, photocopy of your passport (face page), $150 Application fee in bank draft, money order, etc.
3. Fill up the upper part of page 11 and 12 (Verification of Education) and sign on the space provided. Bring these pages to your school of nursing and have them fill it up, stamp and enclose these in school envelope, with the transcript of records, RLE summary and detailed course descriptions. Then they usually give it back to you for mailing; you can mail it together with your other forms as long as it’s enclosed and sealed in an envelope provided by your school.
4. The last page is your Verification of Licensure. Fill up the upper part and sign. Bring it to PRC for completion. The PRC will mail it directly to Vermont.
Processing and evaluation of your application ranges from 2 weeks to 4 months depending on a lot of factors. If you’re approved and eligible, they will send you an email about the next step, which is NCLEX registration at Pearsonvue.com. Check my post about it.

Vermont Nurse NCLEX License Renewal is biennial, and will be due this March 31, 2011. But instead of renewing your license, Vermont Board of Nursing gives you the option of putting it in an Inactive status if you are not practicing or do not intend to practice nursing in Vermont. This is especially good provision for international nurses who are licensed in Vermont but not physically present to practice there, for it saves $90 of renewal fee every odd year.

Sir Noy, I’am almost done with my requirements and i will pass my application this coming monday..but I saw this new form and additional requirement is CES as of July 1, 2009 all new International Applicants are required to obtain a Credentials Evaluation Service Report.
So sir this means I should pass my vermont application in CGFNS?instead directly to Vermont??oh my….

Is it true that the passing score in Vermont is lower compared to California? Maybe 60% or 65%? I’m not sure though. I heard, if for California,the passing is 70% or 75%. Thank You.

sir, gud pm. I appreciate the effort you put through this website. i have a question, i am working now in Jeddah and am planning to take NCLEX when i go for vacation in the Philippines. I have my CGFNS certificate already and i want to take the Vermont board of Nursing. Do they require fingerprinting? Because my dilemma now is where i will do my fingerprinting here in Saudi Arabia. I suggest vermont, its more expensive because of CES but you wont have problem with SSN in 3 yrs.

Good morning. Nahihirapan po ako magdecide kung sang state magaaply ng NCLEX, yung hindi magiging problema yung renewal ng license kapag hindi nagamit within the validity period. Both licenses are valid for 2 years. Both require CES report. Pro mas ok ang Vermont kasi walang Continuing Education requirement sa renewal.

I already applied for nclex examination in vermont, but they sent me a letter saying i was deficient in my microbiology hours in my school documents as well as my professional license verification. So I sent vermont a new copy of my microbiology hours wich was reviewed by my school with the suficient number of hours in microbiology. I checked my professional license verification with our regulation comission and checked it also on the website of the U.S. postal service and it appeared that my professional license verification was already sent to vermont. Its been a few months now but as I checked my nclex status it is still labeled deficient. What I want to ask now, is if you know how long it will take for them to recieve my new microbiology hours and the professional verification? My agency had already let me sign the yellow form which is required for an authorization to test and my agency told me that they had already sent it to vermont, but how can that be when my eligibility was not yet aprooved. Its been a few months but I amtill waiting for my authorization to take the test. My agency doesn’t give me clear answers to my questions.

I just want ask if u have an idea about this. I was approved to take the exam last dec 1, 2008 by Vermont BON. I understand this is only valid for a year. And now, I am not yet ready to take the exam because of financial reasons.How can i extend my approval date? . I am planning to take the exam next year . I understand also that I need $200 for the exam fee and $150 for the exam outside the US. Am i COrrect?

For how long is my State of Vermont approval valid?
Once you have been approved, you have one year to register with Pearson Vue and take
the exam. This rule has changed, so for all applications received before October 7th, 2008,
the 2 year rule remains in effect. Anyone approved after this date will have to comply with
the one year limit.

most states will let you comply with some requirements if you fail 2nd, 3rd time. Mabilis ang eligibility sa saipan ngayon.

why do you want to endorse your license? Vermont needs CES even if you have visascreen or cgfns certificate. I suggest you apply and pay online, para malaman mo if you have to send docs again.

i took vermont nclex exam on nov. 21, 2007 and it was unsuccessful.On jan. 14, 2008 i sent my re application form together with the payment. By Feb. of 2008 i received the white card saying that my application for the nclex exam has been approved and giving instruction to contact person vue to register for the exam.
My problem is… i didn’t register in pearso vue until now. kaya ask ho ako kung puede pa ba ako magpa register sa pearson vue? Paano ho ang sa Vermont na application ko since yr 2008 pa iyon, ano ho ang status ng application ko ngayon.

Vermont eligibility is valid only for 2 years, as far as i know. meaning lapsed ka na since feb 2010. but to be sure, you can contact vermont and inquire.

hello po. I was about to pass my requirements for CA NCLEX kaso need na nila SSN for application. So I opted Vermont instead, Naguguluhan po ako sa site nila kasi sabi doon they require CGFNS certification of an RN is educated not using english language. Do Filipino nurses fall for that category? Kasi I saw on CGFNS site that vermont requires CES and may also require Certification Program from CGFNS. pls clarify po. Thanks!

if you havent taken the nclex yet, dont apply for endorsement. apply for examination.
