How to apply for NCLEX at Vermont

Update July 1, 2009: Vermont now requires nursing credential evaluation thru CES or IERF. Check my post on this new requirement. Disregard this.
Here’s a quick step by step process on how to apply for licensure by examination (NCLEX) at Vermont Board of Nursing for graduates of international nursing schools, including the Philippines.
1. Visit www.vtprofessionals.org and download the 13-page International Nurse Application for Registered Nurses. The first 4 pages are the instructions on how to fill up the form.
2. Fill up pages 5-10 (page numbered 1-6) to the best of your knowledge. Paste your 2×2 picture on the space provided in page 5. Page 10 is the Secondary Education page, where you will attach your original or certified true copy of high school diploma/certificate. You will also include in this packet your photocopy of license (front and back in one page) certified by PRC, photocopy of your passport (face page), $150 Application fee in bank draft, money order, etc.
3. Fill up the upper part of page 11 and 12 (Verification of Education) and sign on the space provided. Bring these pages to your school of nursing and have them fill it up, stamp and enclose these in school envelope, with the transcript of records, RLE summary and detailed course descriptions. Then they usually give it back to you for mailing; you can mail it together with your other forms as long as it’s enclosed and sealed in an envelope provided by your school.
4. The last page is your Verification of Licensure. Fill up the upper part and sign. Bring it to PRC for completion. The PRC will mail it directly to Vermont.
Processing and evaluation of your application ranges from 2 weeks to 4 months depending on a lot of factors. If you’re approved and eligible, they will send you an email about the next step, which is NCLEX registration at Pearsonvue.com. Check my post about it.

Vermont NCLEX License Inactive Status

Vermont Nurse NCLEX License Renewal is biennial, and will be due this March 31, 2011. But instead of renewing your license, Vermont Board of Nursing gives you the option of putting it in an Inactive status if you are not practicing or do not intend to practice nursing in Vermont. This is especially good provision for international nurses who are licensed in Vermont but not physically present to practice there, for it saves $90 of renewal fee every odd year.

Hi! I plan to take the nclex soon. I’m currently fixing all my requirements and filling out the applications. Anyway, my question is just really simple but I just want to be sure. To which address do I send my application to vermont board of nursing? Like what address and who is the addressee. I can’t seem to find an exact instruction saying to whose name and what address do I mail it to. Thankyou.

sir naclick ko po dun sa CES question na is your license for lifetime ay no kasi naisip ko nag-eexpire sya after 3 yrs, sabi po ng iba ay dapat yes ang kinlick ko, ano po ba ang tama. di ko na po mabalikan yung part na yun sa CES application para palitan ko ng yes ang answer ko. pano po yun, baka maka-affect po yun sa approval ng CES ko at di po ba sabi nyo HP & S ay pwede na , which costs 335$, ung iba po kasi ay Full ang ginawa nila, e mas mahal po , ano po ba kaibahan nun, at pwede na po ba yung HP & S, sa Vermont naman po ako nag-apply.

You dont need CGFNS exam if yo want to apply at vermont. Just read my post on how to apply.

Yes you have to comply with their new requirements, meaning, you process your CES(extra $328) first at CGFNS then you must use the new application form.

It’s not true. Passing score is not based on percentage of correct answers. NCLEX is Computer Adaptive Tests; every answer is analyzed and most likely its your consistency in giving the correct answers is what given weight.

Sir, I passed the California NCLEX last week, but the board requires me to pass a SSS to them within 3 years upon receiving their notification letter. And it is impossible for me to get a SSS as soon as possible.3 years is too short. Is it possible to have a reciprocity to Vermont?
